Covering Letters

8 Jun

When applying for jobs, attached to my CV I provide a covering letter. This briefly introduces myself and my experience to future employees. I have been lucky enough to get an interview at a local business – Bradford Marketing. This was the covering letter I presented to them;

Dear Tanya,

I saw your advertisement on reed.co.uk and feel that my degree, experience and determination well qualify me for this position as a graduate marketing assistant.

I am keen and excited about the opportunity to work for such a fast growing business and have excellent retail service skills alongside my experience of working as part of a large team.

As I am due to graduate this year I feel that my skills and qualifications from my education will benefit me a lot in the position advertised. Whilst at University I have been able to work on group projects as well as individual work. Just recently I have had to organise our degree show, this involved managing the budget and finances and planning the whole set up of the building, as well as liaising between staff and other students. I feel that I am always an active member of a group and a person sought out by others for assistance.

I was also chosen to complete work experience at my local radio station Mercia FM and also be part of a project with BBC Coventry and Warwickshire. Both of these opportunities have allowed me to recognise important skills that I have such as my confident communication skills. On a regular basis I was working one-on-one approaching members of the public and talking to them about specified topics.

Furthermore I believe my media degree will be a great advantage as I am aware of the industry and competitiveness therefore able to work extremely hard and recognise how the media industry works and what is expected.

If you find that my skills match your needs for this position, I hope that you will contact me soon about an interview so we can further discuss this opportunity.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Stacey Trodden
